Day 1: The Sock Drawer Rebellion

Day one of furlough. I set my alarm anyway, discipline must be maintained, only to turn it off immediately and sleep until 10. This was a tactical decision, not laziness. Recovery from gallbladder extraction requires precision napping. The doctors removed it Monday in an emergency operation, and frankly, I was promised I’d lose weight from this ordeal. So far, the only thing lighter is my spirit when I remember I don’t have to report to the office.

Breakfast was oatmeal. no coffee, but I ate it defiantly, as if thumbing my nose at the deficit. It was a responsible fiscal choice, oats are cheaper than avocado toast. I’ve already contributed more to deficit reduction than Congress today.

Afterward, I reorganized my sock drawer. Twice. The first pass was by color, the second by how judgmental each pair looked at me when I limped past. I believe we’ve now established a chain of command. The argyle pair is running for Majority Leader.

Between naps, I toyed with my music projects. Fired up the DAW, opened a beat, stared at it like it personally shut down the government, and closed it again. Progress. Then I tinkered with my stream overlays. XSplit now has three new scene transitions that no one but me will ever notice. Truly, morale remains high.

Congress, I await your move.

I’ve mostly been dropping songs as I finish them, just one at a time.

This next release is a little different. Dirt, Love & Freedom is 12 of those songs gathered into one album. Same music, same heart, just all in one place.
