Day 11: The Plot Against Productivity

Day eleven of furlough. I woke at 0615, which at this point counts as sleeping in. Progress. Breakfast was a box of Shipley’s Donuts — the breakfast of champions, or at least of furloughed civilians pretending not to care about calories. I paired it with a Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha, because balance is important. Sugar in both hands keeps the spirits high.

Today’s mission: Amazon Returns. The staging area is prepped. Boxes are labeled, tape is ready, morale is high. There’s something deeply poetic about returning things I probably didn’t need in the first place. The Family CFO approved the operation under the condition that no “new acquisitions” occur during the process. The temptation will be fierce. Meanwhile, we still get Amazon deliveries to the doorstep. I think there are two sets of rules happening here.

The truck saga is finally over, though the financial tremors can still be felt across the household economy. The repairs were began, with the hopes that the truck is purring like a well-fed beast, and the CFO has declared the fleet officially “mission ready for vacation season upon completion.”

I attempted to use Mouse Without Borders again. Curly cooperated flawlessly, moving files and text like a model citizen. Moe, on the other hand, refused to acknowledge the connection entirely. I’m beginning to suspect the two PCs are plotting my downfall, a digital coup d’état. They were quiet… too quiet.

Remington maintains her post near the window, occasionally grumbling at passing joggers. Mittens sits beside Curly, staring at the mouse cursor like he’s part of the conspiracy. Tabby lounges atop the router, claiming she’s “monitoring network traffic.” I’m not convinced.

Morale check: steady with a side of sugar rush. Donuts achieved, caffeine acquired, and the Amazon expedition looms ahead. The Living Room Republic endures, but I’m keeping a close eye on Moe. He blinks when I’m not looking.

I’ve mostly been dropping songs as I finish them, just one at a time.

This next release is a little different. Dirt, Love & Freedom is 12 of those songs gathered into one album. Same music, same heart, just all in one place.
