Day 31: The Knight of Caffeine

Day thirty-one of furlough. Halloween. The day when the neighborhood transforms into a spooky battleground of inflatable ghosts, flashing pumpkins, and questionable budget fog machines. The Living Room Republic has officially entered the “everything is a potential threat” phase, according to Remington, at least.

She’s been on edge since sunrise, staring out the window and issuing low growls at every plastic skeleton that dares sway in the wind. I tried explaining they’re not real invaders, but she remains unconvinced. Vigilance, it seems, knows no holidays.

As for me, I’m leaning into the chaos. Today’s outfit: Moon Knight. Fitting, really, a slightly unhinged vigilante wandering the streets at night trying to make sense of his world. Seems on brand for furlough day thirty-one. Coffee, the same White Chocolate Mocha as always, served as my pre-mission fuel. I sipped it while watching Remi conduct a perimeter sweep of the yard like a canine Avenger. Mittens has no interest in Halloween festivities, content to sit in judgment of all who pass by the window, while Tabby has already vanished to a quieter corner of the house, likely to avoid both costumes and commotion.

Morale check: mischievous and caffeinated. The night ahead promises candy, chaos, and confused pets. The Living Room Republic celebrates Halloween, under the watchful eyes of Moon Knight and one very suspicious Aussie.

I’ve mostly been dropping songs as I finish them, just one at a time.

This next release is a little different. Dirt, Love & Freedom is 12 of those songs gathered into one album. Same music, same heart, just all in one place.
