Day 27: The Senate Recess

Day twenty-seven of furlough. I woke up at 0500, not because I wanted to, but because my brain decided to start a committee hearing on everything I haven’t done yet. Sleep was more of a suggestion than an accomplishment. There’s been a lot on my mind lately, the kind of restless thinking that even Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha can only partially fix. The Amazon returns still sit by the door like judgmental little cardboard senators, filibustering my motivation. Maybe today I’ll finally get them shipped out. Maybe not. We’ve reached that part of the furlough where every errand becomes a philosophical question. Workwise, it’s a Canvas day, time to log in and grade papers for the students. It’s a strange feeling to be furloughed from one side of government work while still serving as the academic traffic controller on another. But I finished my Air Command and Staff College Joint Warfare course, so I’ll take that win. Even better, I officially dropped my November course. Taking a break until January. If the Senate can take some unpaid time off, I figure I’ve earned the same courtesy. Might run out to the boot and cowboy hat store, might not. The rodeo clown dream flickers on, equal parts midlife metaphor and genuine curiosity. I imagine myself standing there, sipping coffee, trying on hats while explaining to strangers that yes, technically, I work for the government… when it works. Remington spent the morning pacing by the window like she’s on patrol. Mittens continues to maintain judgmental eye contact from his perch. Tabby is in stealth mode, likely napping in a place I’ll discover three days from now. Morale check: thoughtful but steady. Coffee strong, coursework done, boots undecided, sleep elusive. The Living Room Republic remains in session, though I might adjourn early for a nap.

Another morning. Another carefully curated rotation. Great music, smooth transitions, and a station built for listeners who still appreciate the art of radio.

@Serena_Bast One way to help this is to put your name and address city in the blocked words on twitch or in your bot. So if someone was to say it *** comes up it helps quite a bit

📻 Broadcast 30 is on the air.

Thirty broadcasts in, the mission remains the same: great music, a steady signal, and a station built for listeners who enjoy the journey as much as the destination

The planner. I research the operator, safety, currents, visibility, lodging, logistics, and trip fit before I book. I’m not chasing the most extreme dive. I want safe diving, clear water, good experiences, good food, and family time after.

Just going to pile on to what RAH said here. If you build your community around a game, and you stop playing that game or that game stops being a game, then what? People may come and go for the game, but they stay because of what YOU bring to the table. Be the reason they stay

ReAnimateHer @ReAnimateHer_

@BigBryTV Build your community around you and it won't matter. It may take a bit longer to where you want to be as a creator however you'll have a community follow you anywhere and watch whatever game you play

LMAO. I call complete bullshit on this one @lyft @AskLyft

I did that very thing and not only did the driver who confirmed the ride not show up, but you assigned another driver that didn't show up and I ended up valeting my vehicle and it cost me $300 to do so.

Under the Current: Cozumel 2026 Dive Montage | Bajo La Marea

A Cozumel dive montage set to my newest original song. Equal parts dive memory, music project, and love letter to being underwater.

@bryonhmusic @DeepBlueCozumel Sounds like a great Cozumel dive week. For anyone planning similar: currents can make sites feel very different day to day, so a crew with solid briefings and flexible site choices is a big deal.
